Designing GAMMA – A Seamless DeFi Yield Experience
As a Product Designer at GooseFX, I led the design of GAMMA, a liquidity pool system that allows DeFi users to deposit, create, and track yield-generating pools. The goal was to create an intuitive experience that increased user engagement, deposits, and portfolio tracking efficiency.

Problem Statement
Despite the potential for high-yield opportunities, DeFi liquidity pools remained complex and unapproachable for many users. High drop-off rates in the deposit process due to unclear pool selection and risk factors. Complex and multiple steps till the user is able to deposit. Users struggled to track their deposited funds and yield performance over time. Unutilized tokens sat idle, missing potential yield opportunities. Our objective was to simplify the deposit experience and encourage users to maximize their earnings with better portfolio insights.

Key Challenges
Through user interviews, competitor analysis, and direct feedback from DeFi users, we uncovered major friction points: Complexity in Pool Selection: Users hesitated when choosing between Primary Pools (stable assets) and Hyper Pools (high volatility assets) due to unclear risk-reward information. Lack of Portfolio Visibility: Users wanted real-time tracking of their deposits, yield performance, and unused tokens. Friction in Deposit Flow: Many users abandoned deposits because they didn’t fully understand the impact of their actions.

Solution
We designed GAMMA’s user experience with a clear, structured flow that streamlined deposits, tracking, and engagement. Simplified Pool Selection Reorganized pools into Primary (stable) and Hyper (high-risk) categories. Added yield projections and risk indicators to help users make informed decisions. Intuitive Portfolio View Designed a real-time portfolio tracker showing deposited pools, generated yield, and unused tokens to encourage further deposits. Introduced historical yield tracking, giving users a clearer picture of their earnings over time. Optimized Deposit Flow Created a step-by-step and simple deposit process: 1 .Connect Wallet → 2. Select Pool → 3. Enter Amount → 4. Confirm & Deposit Reduced friction by making key actions more prominent and removing unnecessary steps.
Lo-fidelity based on user feedback and stakeholders.
Version 1.0. Based on initial user feedback, we developed the first version, offering different experiences tailored to users’ knowledge and understanding of DeFi pools. This led to the introduction of two distinct modes: LITE and PRO, each with features designed to match user needs.
We then conducted testing in a staging environment, allowing select users to try the platform. By analyzing user recordings, heatmaps, and session data, we gathered valuable feedback and iterated to improve the experience.
Version 2.0. Based on user feedback and stakeholder sessions, we refined the experience by removing LITE and PRO modes, opting for a unified version with a guided onboarding, a starter guide, and a filters section. Users can now switch between list and grid views for a more intuitive layout, ensuring a smoother experience for all after extensive user testing.
Handover documentation example. Since we created a design system from early features (Storybook + Figma), the process of creating new components took a couple of weeks instead of months.

Takeaways
Transparency drives trust — clearer pool risk and yield projections increased deposits. Portfolio visibility matters — real-time tracking improved engagement. Frictionless deposits boost participation — a guided process led to higher conversion rates. This project showcased how user-centered DeFi design can make complex financial products more accessible, engaging, and profitable.
